Tod’s Point Greenwich Open Water Swimming

Tod’s Point, officially Greenwich Point Park, extends as a 147-acre peninsula into Long Island Sound, offering protected coves and sandy beaches ideal for open water swimming. Access requires a Greenwich resident park pass, with entry via Tod’s Driftway in Old Greenwich. The park opens daily at 6:00 AM and closes at sunset, with capacity limited to 500 vehicles during peak season. Facilities include restrooms, outdoor showers, and extensive parking throughout the peninsula.

The protected eastern beaches provide calmer conditions perfect for distance swimming, while the western shore offers more exposure to Sound currents for experienced swimmers. Water entry is gradual over sandy bottom, though some rocky areas exist along the shoreline. Early morning swimmers find the most consistent conditions, arriving before 8 AM to secure parking and enjoy calmer water before afternoon winds develop.
