Mackinaw City Beach Mackinaw City Open Water Swimming

A full mile of fine sand beach 4 miles from Mackinaw City. “First Beach” (the north end) and “Second Beach” (south end) to locals, the entirety of it slopes so gently into Lake Michigan and Cecil Bay, near shore is more suited to kids splashing and building sand castles; swimmers will need to get at least a hundred yards offshore to find suitable water, and usually will have that water to themselves. The broad bay offers room for long swims and some shelter from waves. Very accessible by car or bike. Public restroom facilities, no lifeguards.
